Mudding machines offered by Tecno-Beton. Facilities are used to separate the inert from the clay, which dissolves in water, and are divided into two major classes:

• “Paddle slashers” or “log washers,” manufactured by KPI-JCI in the United States, made of single or double spiral paddles, which rub the submerged material into a stream of water; this mechanical action separates the inert from the clay
• The “Barrel Mudders,” manufactured by Tecno-Beton. Plants, are simple and efficient machines that can separate the inert from the clay by tipping the water/ink mixture inside a washing cylinder
